So this deck idea has turned into not only an incredibly fun deck to play and pilot but has proven to be extremely powerful and consistent too! I’ve taken this successfully solo through The Circle Undone Campaign. I decided to post the 29 xp version of the deck as it highlights where this deck is trying to go and what the key pieces are. I’ll try to talk about the 0 xp deck a little later.

I realize Minh Thi Phan is a very good investigator, especially in multiplayer. As most of my games are solo (true solo typically), i has yet to play her in true solo. But with the newly released Occult Lexicon, I had this idea to try her solo. The goal of the deck is utilize Occult Lexicon and a powered up Ancient Stone to be my sources of damage output. She’s already an incredibly consistent investigator with really good will and intellect to help shut down many of the treachery cards as well as being consistent with investigate tests. The last piece of the puzzle for her as a solo investigator is enemy management. This is where Occult Lexicon and Ancient Stones come in. They prove to actually be a very reliable and effective ways to do damage. For example, one copy of Blood Rite can do 4 damage in this deck!

In order to get the most use of Ancient Stone you need card draw. This deck has so much card draw. Besides the obvious card draw cards here, don’t underestimate the ability to kill off an enemy with one hit point remaining just by triggering Drawing Thin. So even though I know I probably won’t be able to succeed a fight test, I’ll initiate one anyway, trigger Drawing Thin to draw a card, and kill off the enemy using a Ancient Stone counter.

In my campaign, i was able to put 11 counters onto Ancient Stone thanks to Drawing Thin! In each scenario I often didn’t even need my second copy of Ancient Stone but it was there if needed.

Order of Upgrades:

The only real critical first upgrade is to start working on the Ancient Stone (Knowledge of the Elders). After this i don’t think the order is as critical though Cryptic Research in an incredible card in this deck as a fast 3 damage/draw card.

There’s a lot of triggers in this deck which is actually a lot of fun to manage. Definitely different than any other deck I’ve played. It obviously depends on the scenario but it’s important to start to learn how to manage your big draw (damage) cards most efficiently. I often try to save them until I’ve got an enemy so I can get double use out of them with the damage and the card draw. Luckily this deck is very consistent especially with the help of Mr. Rook as he let’s you find your key pieces (Ancient Stone, Drawing Thin, Occult Lexicon, Grisly Totem, etc). This deck obviously doesn’t struggle with card draw but it’s also abundant with resources especially with cards like Drawing Thin and Crack the Case.

In the first couple scenarios the lower xp version can include things like Mind over Matter and I’ve Got a Plan to help with enemy management. I kept one Mind over Matter throughout the campaign as backup if needed. Again Occult Lexicon and Blood Rite even at the 0 xp version can be a great way to manage enemies. But boy, once you get your Ancient Stone powered up, this deck is a beast.

Give the deck a try and let me know what you think! Game on
