Jim Culver: Mystic Focused around using willpower to deal with weaker enemies and gathering clues while packing a horror healing utility package as a back up.
Combat:
- Wither and Meat Cleaver will be the main combat tools of this deck (ideally Wither).
- Meat Cleaver can heal your horror if you start getting low.
- Shrivelling should be saved for key enemies with the additional damage.
- Hypnotic Gaze can prevent an attack against you or other investigator at your location and if the skull is drawn you will also heal 1 horror to someone if Jim's Trumpet is in play.
Investigation:
- Sixth Sense is your main investigation tool, using Will instead of Intellect.
- Hawk-Eye folding Camera increases your will (fighting and investigating stat), intellect and maximum sanity by 1 as the scenario goes on.
- Arcane initiate finds you your spells and also serves as welcome damage soak for his weakness.
- Olive Mcbride allows you to draw multiple tokens to increase the chances of drawing the skull or elder sign, or even just a beneficial token for your tests as well as providing damage soak.
- Dark Prophecy can be used in conjunction with any of your other spells or skill check in the same way as Olive, helping you find the skulls to heal horror when needed or just picking the most beneficial one.
- Uncage the soul allows you to play any of your spells for free or can be committed for 2 Will.
- Ward of Protection can prevent the encounter deck from screwing you at your most vulnerable (when you are at low health, have to discard a key asset etc) for the price of 1 horror.
- Leather Coat offers free damage soak.
- Logical Reasoning heals other investigators or yourself for 2 horror or removes potentially hindering cards from their threat area.
Weakness:
-
Jim's Weakness looks scary, and it can be if you are not prepared, but it is easily mitigated. Reveal 5 chaos tokens from the bag, for each skull or autofail revealed, you take 1 damage and 1 horror.
-
Most scenarios only have 2 skulls and 1 autofail in the chaos bag, at most you will have to plan around taking 3 damage and horror, but usually this equates to 1 or 2 which you can mitigate among allies and assets as needed.
