CRANK DAT JANK UP: Queen KaChi of Wakanda

HEADCANNON:

It ain't easy being Royalty. Queen Kachi, has it tough being first lady of Wakanda. It's not that she's the materialistic sort, but when you have that capable of a hubby and rule the richest secret kingdom on earth, one's gotta have her bling. With the affairs of the kingdom weighing down on her, she decided to take a little holiday across the Pacific bay. A nice little getaway in a city called Arkham seems perfect, where she's not so easily recognized. Checking into the hotel, her vacation begins! But all is not as it seems!

DECK

Queen Akachi truly is high service material. She likes expensive stuff and you're going to need resources otherwise she won't budge. Thankfully the local guide David Renfield is accompanying her to feed the Wakandan finances. Robes of Endless Night is another piece that helps with her high "upkeep". When she gets her pieces together, this queen can channel her own version of black panther.

She is tough against any tests. But you knew that already. What you might not know is how fun to power up the rest of her stats. When she gets Empower Self running, Arcane Studies, and finishing off with Arcane Insight, she can take tests however she wants. Add Crystalline Elder Sign and her base stats go up to 6/3/4/4, very easy to add to make any of them 5+.

Flashlightis a hesitant addition, but it feels so good to bring a 4 shroud down to 0. Sure, Arcane Insight may fare best at higher player counts, but Queen KaChi only wants the best. And if she can do without an old flashlight, you know she would. Arcane Studies keeps refreshing each turn and it'll really get you far. Try to split its resource evenly, just in case the first test fails.

MULLIGAN

Usually I would suggest trying to mulligan for David Renfield, Robes of Endless Night, and Crystalline Elder Sign. So you can get some resource generation happening.

However, as the selected scenario of Murder at Excelsior Hotel, I'm suggesting a different tact. Try to get at least Arcane Studies and Empower Self. I've found with that set up, the first act is no issue. Do note the test isn't shroud.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

All 3 Empower Self takes up a single arcane slot, so you can run Arcane Insight in the other. You generally want to take 1 test of each type 1 round, so that you can maximize your asset efficiency. Even partial pieces of her setup can really push her far. In one test of her I had:

•Arcane Studies.

In another test run:

•Crystalline Elder Sign

•Empower Self

•Flashlight

and later drew Arcane Studies.

I mean, Queen Kachi be investigating a 4 shroud location testing at (2), with 7! (no skill cards committed) And she started with a base of 2! I doubt there's time in Hotel Scenario for the queen to display all her assets, but she is glorious if this peacock can spread her feathers. I guess her standard card draw is mitigated by the fact that her assets in play allow her to forget about skill cards, refreshing each upkeep.

Scenario Warning, Mild SPOILERS for Hotel Excelsior

You get a knife at setup, so you is already usually testing at 5. Akachi has lots of sanity so she can take the exhausting action pretty well. HOWEVER this is a scenario that you would use caution in combat.

That said, Queen KaChi does not stoop to low levels. She will take the best resolution or die a proud queen. If you have played Excelsior before, you know what I mean. If not, have fun in her blind playthrough! I'll leave it at that for you to discover her interactions with the scenario!

Queen KaChi of Wakanda

Wakanda is the richest social distanced kingdom, and it stands to reason it's Queen be high maintenance. It's wonders in technology empower users, boggling the minds of lesser folk. You would do well to have the money to satiate the queen, less she throws a penniless hissyfit and refuse to do anything.
