This deck is heavily geared towards the Survivor role, with a considerable component of Neutral cards and a few that Lola can "jump" between classes (though most here are Survivors). Given her peculiar weakness, relying on a single class is risky. However, a support role in Carcosa (where horror and damage are prevalent) and Lola's versatility greatly benefit from Survivor abilities.
1.- Objective: Support Role in a 3-4 Player Group for "The Path to Carcossa":
In Carcosa, scenarios often feature a combination of challenging enemies, elevated horror tests, and a significant clue-gathering pace. An ideal support character can:
-
Handle minor/medium enemies: To free up the main combatant.
-
Mitigate damage/horror: Vital in Carcosa.
-
Contribute to investigation: Especially in tough locations.
-
Control encounter deck chaos: To protect the group.
2.- Assets (Survival & Versatility):
-
Survival Knife (2x): A cheap and efficient combat option for Lola when she's in a Survivor role. It allows her to use her agility or strength to attack. For Lola, this is useful for clearing small enemies or dealing extra damage if her role aligns.
-
Gravedigger's Shovel (2x): Another fantastic Survivor tool. It lets her gain clues from locations with evaded enemies (without using intellect) or use it to hit. Very useful for contributing clues without being a pure Seeker.
-
Eztli Skull (2x): This accessory is from the Rogue class, but Lola can play it. It provides a resource at the start of your turn if there are no enemies. It's a decent resource generator if she's not engaged with enemies. However, given her "Improvisation" weakness, the risk of losing access to these cards or them becoming more expensive is real.
-
Trench Coat (1x): Neutral. An asset that provides horror resistance. Given the amount of horror in Carcosa, this is a solid inclusion for any investigator, and for Lola, it's particularly valuable.
-
Peter Sylvestre (2x): An absolutely stellar inclusion! Peter is a Mystic/Survivor ally. For Lola, he is ideal. He soaks horror (her Survivor role gives her one point of damage/horror resistance, but Peter provides more), and he gives her +1 Agility (useful for her Rogue role or for Agility tests). Peter's ability to resist horror is vital for Lola's and the group's survival in Carcosa.
-
Something Worth Fighting For (2x): A very thematic Survivor card for Lola. It gives her a way to recover from critical failures or to use a failure to her advantage.
-
Athletic Shoes (2x): Survivor asset. Bonus to Agility. Very useful for evading, which aligns with enemy control.
3.- Events (Utility & Adaptability):
-
Lucky! (2x): Neutral. The classic lifesaver. Turns a failure into a success. Fundamental for Lola, as being average in everything means her tests are more likely to fail.
-
"You Handle This!" (2x): Survivor event. Allows Lola to redirect damage or horror from another investigator. This is the epitome of support! In Carcosa, where attackers often hit hard and encounters inflict horror, this card is gold.
-
Emergency Cache (2x): Neutral. Generates resources. Lola spends a lot of resources changing roles and playing cards. Maintaining a healthy economy is crucial.
-
Breaking and Entering (2x): Rogue event. Allows her to investigate with Agility if she evades an enemy. An excellent way for Lola to gain clues without using her Intellect (which is average) or relying on her Seeker role.
-
Slip Away (2x): Rogue event. Allows her to evade an enemy and move it. This is pure board control, allowing the group's combatant to focus on the "big bad".
4.- Skills (Reaction & Adaptation):
-
Guts (2x): Survivor skill. Provides +1 Willpower and draws a card if successful. Useful for her Willpower tests.
-
Unexpected Courage (2x): Neutral. +2 to any stat. The flexibility is perfect for Lola, who can use it to guarantee a success on a critical test, no matter what role she's playing.
-
Quick Thinking (2x): Survivor skill. Allows her to take a free Agility test after an enemy attacks. Very useful for evading before an enemy can deal damage or for triggering evasion abilities.
5.- Deck Strengths for Lola in Carcosa:
-
Highly versatile and adaptable: Lola can change her focus each turn, and the cards allow her to use any stat in almost any situation. This is key in Carcosa, where scenarios demand multiple types of tests.
-
Excellent support capability: "You Handle This!" makes her a vital protector for the team. Peter Sylvestre soaks horror for everyone.
-
Good resilience: A large number of Survivor cards to recover from failures, mitigate damage/horror, and heal herself.
Independence from base stats: Lola doesn't need to be strong in a specific stat, as the cards allow her to use the one that suits her best at any given moment.
