This deck is part of a series provided for people who have only a single core set & the Dunwich expansions. The rationale is that most of the decks on this site assume 2 core sets. If you have just 1 core set, you don't have much freedom in your deck, so there is not much point in publishing specialty decks. But if you have 1 core + Dunwich, you have some freedom in deck construction but not a lot of guidance.

I've put this forward as a pair-play deck, but Rex is now strong enough that he is formidable even on solo. Assuming you pairing with someone, Zoey is the optimum choice, followed (rather far behind) by Roland, Jenny, Agnes, and Jim.

The cards you are most trying to get early on are:

The Old Book of Lore is mostly there to get the other main cards in your kit.

If you need to use your book to get all your kit out, feel free to drop it later once you have a Magnifying Glass.

Once you have Burglary down, you should have plenty of resources to pump your Fire Axe. Once you have Hyperawareness, regularly pump 1 resource into your burglaries to make it more likely that you win by 2 to trigger your special ability (to get a clue) and Scavenging.

The plan on scavenging is to constantly recycle "Strange Solution" (or other items if you haven't gotten those yet). So you use Strange Solution on skill tests for its wild icon, and then you scavenge it back.

The Laboratory Assistant is partly there to help you get your kit out, but it is mainly there to help you later after you power up with Higher Education and Charisma so your Laboratory Assitant helps you keep above the 5-card minimum to use Higher Education.

Once you have Higher Education, Fire Axe, and Burglary out, you are basically invincible because you will have tons of resources and you can use them to pump up your Willpower on nasty encounter card skill tests. Just keep "I've got a plan!" for the occasional big enemy that needs lots of damage.

What do you suggest removing for Higher Education and Charisma? And how many of each?

@Admonition Because both of those cards are permenant (they are always in play i.e. you don't have to draw them) they don't cost towards your deck size. :)

Wow, I never even realized that was a thing (new player). Thank you for the quick response!
