One of my favorite Investigators in the game so far!
Silas is a combat heavy investigator, but unfortunately lacks the weapon pool a or character has access to. In my group I use him as a Bodyguard. Following the Investigator around, killing small health enemies and evading the big ones. He is also really good as a combat support for your heavy hitter, disabling retaliate by evading nasty monsters or dealing a bit of extra damage.
His two obvious weaknesses are investigating clues and his sanity/low . You can mitigate both with XP, but they wil never be that good.
My Card Choices:
+Meat Cleaver: I prefer this weapon over Fire Axe, because you can manage the damage output without losing resources. Yes, Fire Axe is more sure to land a hit, but without resources you can't play events like Lucky! and the like. Another bonus is the sanity heal you get when you kill an enemy, so if you have played Peter Sylvestre you can deal him one horror to deal extra damage and on kill heal yourself. It was usefull a lot of times actually.
+Cherished Keepsake: Keeps you sane as you dream about Innsmouth... and it costs 0! My other choice for the Accessory-Slot would be Grisly Totem, especially the upgraded variant. I spent my XP on Relic Hunter to have both in play.
+Peter Sylvestre: Best Ally Ever. Upgrade as soon as possible!
+Drawing Thin: Use it on Fights against weak enemys or just investigate your location to get 2 resources.
+Track Shoes: Bonus on Evade is always good. Also gets you fast to the enemy or location with resign.
+Belly of the Beast: You could use "Look what I found!" instead, but I like the on this card.
+Daring: Replacements for Overpower and Manual Dexterity.
+Opportunist: Fun Skill-Card. I only commit one at a time (in most situations), so you can trigger Silas' Reaction to get it back just in case.
+Take Heart: Always fun to play on an Investigate Action you can't succeed at (when no enemies are around).

Jan 20, 2020I would exchange Drawing thin for an Emergency Cache. It´s not a perfect sub for it, but sometimes you just need resources quick and you can use Scrounge for Supplies to get it back. |
Nice- any thoughts on using this deck with the new Taboo list? What would you sub for Drawing Thin?
