my first, and entirely untested, attempt at a Calvin deck. Hoping to play on hard once I have it refined more.
the Scavengingis for Key of Ys (will replace Dark Horse) later on. but possibly isn’t needed. I’ve been toying with a Backpack in place of at least one of them to help find the soaks.
I’m also curious what people typically take as upgrades in him.
all ideas welcomed.

May 15, 2018You might want to include an extra weapon to increase your chance of drawing one. |
May 15, 2018True, I ran a single Baseball Bat with my two Fire Axes. I tried the Gravedigger's Shovel thinking the clue gathering would be useful, but didn't like the lack of damage bonus. |
May 15, 2018Yes - Thanks too I was toying with adding Improvised Weapon perhaps as weapon slots 3/4. but not sure what to drop. Another option is to add Backpacks for draw to help dig out the axe. Theres plenty of items in there for it to at least land something i think. More once the key is in. |
May 16, 2018I'm unsure whether a Dark Horse build is the way to go with Calvin. I feel other Survivors do it better. If you do run Dark Horse I'd definitely recommend including Madame Labranche to help manage resources. I'd second another weapon, maybe Gravedigger's Shovel or Improvised Weapon. A Smoking Pipe and Painkillers also look handy to juggle stats. "Look what I found!" also seems good but would be a dead draw later as resources are tight and stats are higher. My first build used more of the Guardian spirit events to tank early damage for the team and build stats to get work done later. "Let me handle this!", Heroic Rescue & Fight or Flight seem strong but require some planning. I haven't tested it yet. |
May 16, 2018I really like Kanhead's suggestions. I think that's the place to start for Calvin. Basically, take all the heat off the team while they power up, and power up in the process. Desperates, Rise to the Occasion, Improvised Weapon screams Calvin to me. |
May 16, 2018Yes, if this is a multiplayer deck, then those off-class Spirits are very good. I once bought Calvin two "I'll see you in hell!"s just before a certain Dunwich scenario. It was worth it. You really do want Fight or Flight for later in the game. And Madame DarkAxe is the way to go. |
Looks about right. I like Madame Labranche so he can resupply for a second Fire Axe hit, but Peter Sylvestre is a good choice too. Just don't let Peter start soaking the horror too early.
