This a 0XP deck derived from FBones's deck "Fire Bones' Rex Deck [Hard Core & Rougarou]". Deck tested on Path to Carcosa. Note that the intention is to upgrade this deck over the course of a full campaign, hence the inclusion of Strange Solution, Laboratory Assistant and Delve Too Deep.

General strategy: This deck is perfect for any multiplayer campaign when paired with reliable fighters. Pray you draw Dr. Milan Christopher in your opening hand, but do not despair if not. Old Book of Lore, Laboratory Assistant and Rex's Search for the Truth will help you draw him out. Alternatively, a Magnifying Glass or two will help you get those early clues. Make sure to use Burglary to pull that last clue on low shroud locations for some extra resources thanks to Rex's special ability. If you must stray far from your fearless protector(s), get your Fire Axe down and have resources to spare.

Upgrade strategy: Higher Education is your absolute first upgrade for this deck. The ability to spend 1 resource to boost 2 or 2 is key. Next Charisma will help you make proper use of Laboratory Assistant so you can always reach the 5-card hand size necessary for Higher Education. Upgrading Magnifying Glass for only 1XP apiece furthers helps in your efforts to increase your hand size; the ability to drop and pull Magnifying Glass back into your hand at no cost is extremely important. For the rest of the campaign you can spend your XP to make Rex the full-fledged beast that he was born to be.

Suggested upgrade path:

  1. Higher Education (3XP)
  2. Charisma (3XP)
  3. 2x Magnifying Glass --> 2x Magnifying Glass (2XP)
  4. Old Book of Lore --> Cryptic Research (4XP)
  5. 2x Shortcut --> 2x Shortcut (4XP)
  6. 2x Strange Solution --> 2x Strange Solution/Strange Solution (8XP)
  7. 2x Perception --> 2x Bulletproof Vest (6XP)
  8. 2x Emergency Cache --> 2x Emergency Cache (4XP)
  9. 2x Deduction --> 2x Deduction (4XP)
